We are having a good time, the motor home is a wonderful home away from home.
Today, I will just add some pictures to let you experience the beauty of nature. We are in Whitehorse, Yukon. We are at a great campsite "Hi Country RV Park". We are hanging out for several days. We went to Miles Canyon and the Transportation Museum of the Yukon today. I told Wilbur, I would honor him for father's day and take him out to dinner tonight ( I really did not want to cook tonight).

The first two pictures are taken at Whitehorse. This is Miles Canyon, the water is so green and it is very beautiful.
The Famous Sign Forest in Watson Lake.
Some wildlife pictures, they are quite hard to capture.
Mother and cub
Caribou
Momma Moose
The next two are typical Alaska Highway scenes. This was one of those windshield shots - could have been better, had we stopped.

Yesterday we continued our journey on Alcan to Fort Nelson. Fort Nelson was a disappointment to us. Our campground could have been improved on. But you have to take what is available.

This bridge is the only one that was built in 1942-43, that is still being used on the highway.
Our campsite at Mile "o" in Dawson Creek.
We saw as lots of wildlife today and we will add to the blog ASAP.

We left the farm of Fred and Elsie at 7:45 this morning and traveled west today. We left with mixed feelings but we say a big Thank you for the wonderful time together.

This robin has her nest where it will be warm at night, on top of the security light.
Today, we saw a lot of farm land with huge fields in the Peace River Region.
Our first glimpse of Dawson Creek, British Columbia. We were initiated well today, at getting prepared for some gravel roads in Alaska. We had gravel hit each windsheild so we have a chip in each, which will will have looked at tomorrow morning.
This is sign post #ONE at mile one of the Alaska Highway(Alcan). It is in the town center, where two streets cross. This road was built after the Pearl Harbor attack, as a military road to Alaska, from 1942 - 1943, a President Roosevelt order. This 1523 mile road was build in 18 months from Dawson Creek, BC to Delta Junction, AK.
The sign speaks for itself.

We are camped at Mile "O" campground and picked up a few groceries tonight - I was horrified at the prices. Green grapes were $5.49 @ pound. A block of cheese was $8.99. Of course their weights and measures don't make sense to me!!!! So I really don't know their prices but the cheese looked like what I buy at home but its much cheaper.

Tomorrow we begin our trek on the Alcan, a dream for both of us.

Today is the day, we have been waiting for - to get the ball joints replaced in the motor home. Wilbur and Fred are at the garage, seeing what they can do to be of assistance. I am sitting on the porch on a beautiful day. The birds are singing their little hearts out. Elsie got fresh lettuce, onions and radishes out of her garden. It is dry here and Elsie waters her flower planters every day. We hope they will soon get rain for the hay and other crops and green up the lawns. We will head west, when the motor home is repaired and hope to be in Alaska by the longest day (Sunday). It is still light until 12 midnight and then gets light soon after 3 am. We have had such a good time, here at Fred and Elsie's, its almost a downer to move on soon. The guys have been to several auctions and the ladies took in a quilt show. But mostly we just sit, talk and enjoy the nature and drink good coffee.
Sunday evening at the Gingerich's. We enjoyed our popcorn and the outdoors. We made tinfoil dinners on Saturday night and cooked them on the grill. Yum! Yum!
