A typical site, here at Alakanuk. Every family has a boat, a snow machine, and a 4-wheeler. There are very few cars or trucks.

Whew! This was a major day--getting those rafters on top for Harry's house.  The rest of the wall got built, this afternoon and then tomorrow the rafters will be put into place.  Pray for safety for all involved.

Three walls of the first house were set up by Saturday evening.
Yummy salmon made by Daisy, one of our cooks. The meal pictured below is rice fresh salmon, salmon eggs and corn bread.  The cooks are doing an outstanding job of preparing meals and serve local fare for us to taste.
No, our ovens are not working but Daisy made a special cake at home and brought it on her 4-wheeler.

Daisy's family above and Martha, another cook on her 4-wheeler.
James, the city manager,  invited us to celebrate the 4th at the Yukon River.  For safety, James is packing a 44.

 Some scenes from the river.
Dena and daughters.  The S'mores were delish.

 Roger contemplating.
Two of the cleanup cooks.  What a blessing they have been.
