The flowers are blue poppys, they are just gorgeous.
We went to the Alaska Game Rescue Farm. All of the animals have been rescued from the wild.
We saw some beautiful scenery today as we traveled toward Fairbanks. But the Big One (Denali) was covered with fog so he eluded us.
Alaskans are able to fish, without a license for sustainable living. They dip net in various rivers. We went to the mouth of the Kasilof River and watched them fish with their 5 foot nets. They put the net out into the water, while they stand in the water and wait until they get a fish in their net, then its butchered and put on ice. Then they go back and try for more fish.
We spent some good time with Jim and Jerry's crew as they fished with their gill nets. They have been doing this for 20 years and still love it. It is cold and dangerous and hard work to pull in the nets.
Here is the crew going out in one of the their boats. Wilbur is with them for this trip.
